The team announced that Steve Downie was released from an area hospital and "doing well" after spending two nights there with a concussion. Downie suffered the concussion in a fight with Capitals winger Aaron Volpatti in the third period of Friday night's 7-0 loss.
Downie was acquired from the Colorado Avalanche on Thursday and Friday was his first game in the orange and black since the trade. He played 15 shifts getting 10:24 of ice time registering a team-high four hits and two shots on goal. Downie also led all Flyers skaters with 17 penalty minutes.
