According to his agent Allan Walsh, Fedotenko has signed a three-year, $9 million deal today with HC Donetsk of the KHL. The 34 year old signed a one-year deal with the Flyers last summer and played primarily as a defensive forward. He recorded four goals and nine assists in 47 games for the orange and black.
Fedotenko leaving does not come as much of a surprise. One of the reasons he came to the Flyers was because he was unhappy with his role as a defensive specialist under John Tortorella in New York. Reports surfaced in April that Fedotenko was unhappy with how he was being used with the Flyers as well as he was used in a similar defensive role.
Fedotenko was good on the penalty kill and seemed like a good guy in the locker room. With the expected promotion on 2012 first-round pick Scott Laughton, this is not much of a loss at all for the Flyers.
