Bryzgalov(1-0-0, 1.00 GAA) made his Flyers debut on Thursday with a 2-1 win over the Stanley Cup champion Bruins. He made 22 saves on 23 shots.
Brodeur (’10-’11: 23-26-2, 2.45 GAA) is making his 16th straight season opening start which is the longest streak in NHL history.
The Devils stumbled to a 38-39-5 record last season. Their new captain, Zach Parise, was limited to only thirteen games last season with a knee injury. Before last year, he was fourth in the NHL in goals scored over the previous two years with 83 goals. Parise paired with Ilya Kovalchuk means the Devils have a strong scoring tandem.
The Flyers are coming off a season opening win against the Bruins. The Flyers scored both of their goals in the final 50 seconds of the first period when Claude Giroux scored to tie the game at 1 and with less than three second left Jake Voracek scored to give the Flyers a 2-1 lead. The Flyers also got some stellar play between the pipes as Ilya Bryzgalov made a strong start in his debut for the Orange and the Black.
