The Flyers were in a back and forth battle with the Canadiens all night. Max Talbot got the Flyers on the board first in the first period with his ninth of the year. Every time, except once, when the Flyers got a lead, the Canadiens were able to tie it up. Five minutes into the second period, David Desharnais was able to knot the game up at 1 with his fifth goal of the year. Forty six seconds later, Harry Zolnierczyk gave the Flyers the lead back with his second goal of the year and second for his career on a beautiful pass from Zac Rinaldo.
With six and a half to go in the second, Quebec native Louis Leblanc notched his first career NHL goal to tie the game at 2. With just under two minutes left in the period, Wayne Simmonds extended his goal streak to four games with his ninth of the year. With fifteen second remaining in the second Canandiens free agent pick up Erik Cole tied the game again. With the score dead locked at three after two periods the Flyers needed a spark. Eight minutes into the third period that spark came from defenseman Andrej Meszaros after his blast from the point beat Canadiens goalie Carey Price to put the Flyers up 4-3.
The Flyers would hold on to the 4-3 win for their seventh straight victory. Nfortunately, Scott Hartnell could not extend his goal streak and that streak was stopped at six games. The Flyers unofficial victory song, “Knock Knock” by Mac Miller, was played again in the locker room (as they do after ever win). Video highlights below. Unofficial victory song below the highlights.
