Former Braves and Orioles pitching coach Leo Mazzone tweeted at the Phillies today stating that he is interested in their vacant pitching coach position.
Mazzone, 65, was the Atlanta Braves' pitching coach from 1990-2005 during their incredible run through the National League East which featured vaunted pitchers Greg Maddux, Tom Glavine, and John Smoltz. He left Bobby Cox's staff following the 2005 season to take the Orioles' pitching coach job but was fired two years later.
I would be totally fine with Mazzone taking over the job. He is certainly well respected and knows his stuff. Why not bring him in for an interview?
