Philly Sports Holdings, LLC announced Tuesday they have named former Comcast-Spectacor and Flyers team president Peter Luukko as their new Chairman of the Board.
“I am proud to welcome Peter to our company as both a leader and a principal investor,” Pat Waters, President and CEO of Philly Sports Holdings, said in a press release. “Peter’s expertise in the professional sports management and marketing arena is unparalleled and he will be a tremendous asset to our leadership team as we pursue our goal of becoming the preeminent company in athlete event services and sports memorabilia retail.”
When Luukko resigned as president of Comcast-Spectacor in December, Luukko said he wanted to "monetize his interest in the company and pursue other entrepreneurial endeavors." This fits that bill as he is an investor in Philly Sports Holdings, which owns Sports Vault and Strategic Sports Marketing.
“I am delighted to be joining the board of Philly Sports Holdings as Chairman,” Luukko said in the release. “The sports memorabilia and marketing business is a strong and growing space and Pat and his team are exemplary leaders committed to authenticity, athlete relationships, and providing unique products and opportunities for sports fans.”
Philly Sports Holdings, LLC operates Sports Vault, which is a leading autographed sports memorabilia distributor in the area, most notably at their Sports Vault Shops located throughout the Delaware Valley. The Exton-based company was founded in 2012.
