In net for the Flyers is up-and-down goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov (18-10-4, 2.99 GAA). Bryzgalov enters tonight's game needing one shutout to reach 25 career shutouts.Bryzgalov last played on January 22nd against the Bruins when he allowed 5 goals and then both shootout shots he faced. One the year, Bryzgalov has allowed all 5 shootout shooters to score. The Flyers lost 6-5 in overtime. The day before Bryzgalov allowed just one goal in a 4-1 Flyers victory over the New Jersey Devils at the Prudential Center.
The Flyers were represented by five players at the All Star Game festivities (Claude Giroux, Kimmo Timonen, Scott Hartnell, Matt Read, and Sean Couturier). Those five players return from an experience of a lifetime and looking to build on their first half success. While Danny Briere and James van Riemsdyk are out with concussions, forward Jaromir Jagr is listed as questionable with a lower-body injury but said after the morning-skate today that he intends to play tonight against Winnipeg, "that's the plan" he said.
The Jets will be without top scorer Evander Kane and blue line presence Dustin Byfuglien. Kane remained in Winnipeg for further evaluation of a concussion. Dustin Byfuglien continues to skate but wears his orange jersey for zero contact due to a knee injury. The Jets are expected to start Ondrej Pavelec (16-17-6, 2.84 GAA) tonight against the Flyers.
The puck drops at 7:00 pm at the Wells Fargo Center. The game can be seen on Comcast Sportsnet and heard on 94.1 WIP.
