Hamels, 29, is coming off of a tough start Saturday against the Mets in which he allowed four runs on seven hits in just five innings of work. The loss on Saturday makes 2013 the first time that Hamels has lost more than 11 games in a season in his eight year career. Prior to the loss Saturday, the Phillies had won four straight Hamels starts. The lefthander has never faced the Detroit Tigers.

Fister, 29, was strong for the Tigers on Sunday against the Royals. He went six innings allowing just one run on six hits with five strikeouts. The Tigers have won three of his four July starts, including the last two. The right hander has never faced the Phillies.
