The 76ers have won six of their last seven meetings with the Raptors. The two teams have met twice already this year, most recently on November 20th when the Sixers topped Toronto 106-98. The Sixers have gone 5-15 after beginning the year 10-6 and have lost four straight games. The Sixers are 2-8 this year in the second game of a back-to-back series. After tonight, they will return home to play 12 of their next 13 games at the Wells Fargo Center.
Who to Watch: Evan Turner. Turner has seen is productivity drop over the last 11 games. He is averaging 10.6 points on just 11.5 field goal attempts after averaging 19.1 points on 16.3 field goal attempts in the 13 games prior to this stretch. He is in some good company this year as Turner, along with LeBron James and Kevin Durant are the only players averaging 14+ points, 6+ points, and 4+ assists.
The Raptors will lose the season series to the Sixers if they drop tonight’s game. They will be without two of their top frontcourt players as Andrea Bargnani is out with a right wrist/elbow injury and center Jonas Valanciunas is out with a broken bone in his right hand. The Raptors are getting huge production off the bench from Alan Anderson and especially in the last two games. Anderson dropped 20 points on the Kings on Friday and followed it up by dropping 27 on the Thunder on Sunday while coming off the bench in both games. Anderson is averaging 14.5 points per game in the last 11 games.
Who to Watch: Jose Calderon. Calderon is the commander of the Raptors’ offense. He has 23 assists to just six turnovers in two matchups with the 76ers this season. He is averaging 11.7 points and 10.5 assists in 33.6 minutes per game in 19 starts this season. He has eight double-doubles this year, most recently on Sunday when he had 10 points and 11 assists against the Thunder. On the year, Calderon is averaging 10.1 points and 7.7 assists per game.
