The Sixers are 6-0 at home this year and look to make it 7-0 with a tough matchup tonight. Evan Turner is listed as day-to-day with a right quad contusion but returns to the lineup tonight. Spencer Hawes is listed as day-to-day and is a game time decision, according to head coach Doug Collins. Hawes played 33 minutes on Monday to go along with 11 points and 10 rebounds. He has been dealing with a strained lower back and strained left Achilles tendon. The Sixers got a big day from Jrue Holiday who poured in a game high 24 points on Monday and Andre Iguodala added 21 of his own.
The Nuggets are lead by former Knicks first round pick Danilo Gallinari and former University of North Carolina star Ty Lawson who are averaging 16.8 and 16.3 points per game respectively. It will be a home coming of sorts for backup point guard Andre Miller who played for the Sixers for the better parts of two and a half seasons from 2006-09. The Sixers advantage this season has been their bench as their leading scorer, Lou Williams, comes off the bench as do double figure contributors, Thaddeus Young and Evan Turner. The Nuggets have solid bench production as well. The Nuggets got 51 of their 105 points last night from their bench, lead by Corey Brewer.
The Nuggets front line is big. Danilo Gallinari stands 6’10’’. Chris Andersen is 6’10’’ (with one of the craziest sets of tattoos ever). Nene is 6’11’’. Timofey Mozgoz is 7’1’’. Needless to say Elton Brand, Thaddeus Young, Spencer Hawes, Nik Vucevic, and Tony Battie have their hands full when it comes to height.
Tipoff is scheduled for 7:00 pm. The game can be seen on Comcast Sportsnet and heard on the radio on 94.1 WIP.
