The Sixers are coming off of a 85-79 loss to the New York Knicks which snapped their six game win streak. The Sixers defense did its job on Wednesday as they held the Knicks to their NBA-best points allowed per game average of 85 points. Unfortunately the offense did not show up as they shot 39.5% from the field and 66.7% from the free throw line. Despite the poor shooting, the Sixers fought and battled all the way to the end of the game. C Spencer Hawes will be a game time decision with a strained lower back. He missed Wednesday night’s contest against the Knicks and only played 11 minutes in Tuesday night’s rout of the Sacramento Kings.
The Wizards are off to a tough start to the season. They are just 1-9 and 0-5 on the road. They are coming off of a 14 point loss to the Chicago Bulls in which they were only able to muster 64 points over 48 minutes. They shot a putrid 31% from the field. The average margin of victory for the home teams in the Wizards five road losses is nearly 16 points.
Tipoff is slated for 7:00 pm at the Wells Fargo Center. Tickets are still available for tonight’s game. The game can be seen on Comcast Sportsnet and heard on the radio on 94.1 WIP.
