The Phillies answered in the bottom of the inning after Victorino reached second base on a dropped pop fly to Matt Cain. Cain and Whiteside did not communicate as they collided and Victorino advanced to second. After Ibanez popped out to shortstop (notice a theme with the pop outs?), Dom Brown got the run back by singling in Victorino. Carlos Ruiz then ended the rally by rolling over on a pitch to shortstop Mike Fontenot who rolled the double play to get out of the inning. Not much excitement after that as the Giants had two base runners in the eighth when Brad Lidge struck out Cody Ross to end the inning.
The Phillies were handled easily by Brian Wilson in the ninth as the bearded closer notched his 32nd save.
Kyle Kendrick goes for the Phillies tonight and either Tim Lincecum or Ryan Vogelsong, both are All Stars, will go to the Giants tonight. Carlos Beltran is expected to be in the lineup tonight for the Giants.
