Before we get into the grind of the season, a true gambler MUST place prop bets/futures. The next 2 weeks we are going to cover both of these crap shoots. Keep in mind the prop bets are long odds where we look for some value. These aren’t bets you wager crazy money on…if you hit 1 prop you cover all your other action and then some. If you don’t have the balls to bet a few long shots then you aren’t a real gambler.
“You Miss 100% of the shots you don’t take – Wayne Gretzky, - Michael Scott” – Tommy Touchy
Nick Chubb RB – Georgia (+850) – featured back in the SEC, who led the conference last season in Yards Per Carry. Worth a look, and you know he will see the carries. His name carries some weight because of how well he played while Gurley was suspended. The Dawgs will be barking this season. And then lose 2 soul crushing home games and go back to the gutter where they belong.
Leonard Fournette RB – LSU (+950) Almost the exact same write up as above. SEC bias mixed with a team that has struggled at QB. Expect LSU to run the ball hard this year and Leonard got stronger as the season went on in 2014. Geaux throw $50 at this bet and be a man.
Cody Kessler QB – USC (+850) The voters have a bias towards specific positions coming from certain schools. I present to you the USC QB. He throws TDs, doesn’t get picked, plays in a soft defensive conference and will eventually be a 1st round bust in the NFL. What else could you expect out of Southern Cal? I guess maybe a RB who wasn’t a murderer?
Derrick Henry RB – Alabama (+1400) I expect Alabama to spitefully run this guy down some teams throats and up another teams…. Speaking of assholes Nick Saban isn’t happy with last years imperfection of a season. He even had to settle for the number 4 recruiting class, that doesn’t happen to him. That’s PAC 12 shit. I like my chances with an angry coach pounding the ball. I also like the value.
Samaje Perine RB – Oklahoma (+1700) I know you are sick of seeing running backs on here but this is like fantasy football…touches are king. Oklahoma is a tough team to cap because they could be an 11 win team…or more likely an 8 win team. They have a brutal schedule and you can expect them to try to control the ball in those tough games. Samaje has a ton of talent and some big boys to run behind.
NFL Props include most passing yards, most rushing yards, and Rookie of the Year Props. As for all props the name of the game is value.
Most Passing Yards
Sam Bradford (+3800) If he wasn’t an Eagle I wouldn’t even look at him. But at that crazy number why not take a shot that he will stay healthy, and throw the ball all over the field. He has RB’s that can catch out of the back field, and speed on the outside. Long shot sure but I like seeing 38 times my money. $50 towards Sam could pay for a lot of lap dances from Sammi.
Aaron Rodgers (+650) now here is a guy with a legit shot to be the number 1 passer in the league. Has the weapons, has the arm, and has the time in the pocket. Of course the snow and cold in Lambeau could be an issue late in the season, or he could throw for 500 yards on the Bears in 1 game.
Offensive Rookie of the Year
Nelson Agholor (+750) well this number went down after the first preseason game. After Nelson’s TD I grabbed this at +1300! The kid has the tools and will be given a lot of chances to make moves in open space if the birds get the run game going. The Eagles should have more offensive snaps that any other team.
Devante Parker (+2600) Expect the Dolphins to be a good team this year. They should compete for a division title and Ryan Tannehill is better than a lot of people realize. Plus have you seen Lauren Tannehill? I’m sure the week they play the Eagles some other blog will post about 30 pictures of her instead of actually capping the game. Long story short Devante is a possession receiver and will be an immediate impact guy.
Most Rushing Yards
Marshawn Lynch (+650) Pete Carroll is a tool. A big part of his success has been due to the gap in talent between his teams and the opponents. Pete’s USC teams were just absurd with playmakers, and he stepped into what became the best defense in decades. Marshawn should have had the ball last year in that Super Bowl and I look for Marshawn to just pound the ball all season. Unless he catches a skittle in the eye which is +9500
Jeremy Hill (+700) big season from this guy right here. If he stays healthy Jeremy is going to run behind that offensive line all season. The LSU product has speed, has power, is shifty and benefits from a guy like AJ Green stretching the field. That ginger under center will love having a run game. Hard to bet on a Bengal for almost anything except maybe shitting the bed, but grab this 700
Props can make the season fun. Especially the last few weeks of the Heisman race or the final 2 NFL games when you have a guy in the mix. These aren’t meant to be back breaking bets, so manage your money better than the guy from Ballers (awful show). As always I welcome your tweets of gratitude, respect, or outright hatred. Next week we take a look into the future. Good luck !
