According to the Associated Press, Allen Iverson is interested in joining the Sixers organization. Just yesterday, Iverson turned down an opportunity to play in the NBA Development League for the Maverick’s farm team, Texas Legends. Iverson does not want to return to the team as a player but rather as a consultant to the team.
Iverson’s manager, Gary Moore, says that the 37 year old former No. 1 overall pick does not plan to retire soon but when he does hang them up, he would like to return to the team with which he won a MVP award. Moore was in Philadelphia yesterday talking with Sixers owners Joshua Harris and Adam Aron.
Iverson played with the Sixers from 1996-2006 then returned in 2010 for 25 games. In his career, Iverson averaged 26.7 points and 6.2 assists per game. He started 720 of the 725 games he played with the 76ers.
