Flyers forward Jake Voracek left Tuesday night's preseason game against the New Jersey Devils with what the team is calling an "upper-body injury." Voracek appeared to hurt his back when he was taken down on a breakaway and slammed into the post in the second period.
A penalty shot was awarded on the play and Voracek stayed out for one more shift before going to the locker room and not returning.
Voracek, 24, scored a career-high 22 times and dished out 24 assists for a staggering 46 points in 48 games last season for the Flyers. In a full 82 game slate, those totals would have been 38 goals, 41 assists, 79 point season had he kept the same pace. He stepped in nicely on Claude Giroux's right side on the Flyers' top line last year and an injury to Voracek would cause the Flyers to shuffle their lines which they did all too often last season.
