The Sixers announced Monday Julius "Dr. J" Erving will represent the team at tomorrow night's NBA Draft Lottery. A full breakdown of the Draft Lottery and the Sixers chances can be found here.
The 76ers finished the regular season with a 19-63 record giving them the second best odds (19.9% chance) to win the No. 1 overall pick behind only the Milwaukee Bucks who have a 25.0% chance of landing the top pick. In addition to their own pick, the Sixers own the rights to the New Orleans Pelicans first round pick if it lands outside the top five. The Pelicans pick has a 96.1% chance of landing outside the top five and an 87.0% chance of being the 10th overall pick.
Since the NBA instituted the draft lottery in 1985, the Sixers have landed to top overall pick just once. That one time was in 1996 when they selected Allen Iverson No. 1 overall out of Georgetown. What should help excite Sixers fans is they had the second best odds of landing the top pick in 1996 when they won the lottery.
