Many around the La Salle College High School community know the tremendous impact assistant hockey coach John Haggerty has had on the program that has won six Flyers Cups and three state championships. But to many, Haggerty is so much more.
Anyone who was around La Salle in the fall of 2005 surely remembers when then-junior Matt Martinelli took a hockey skate to the jugular during practice. It was Haggerty who was the first to Martinelli's side to apply pressure to the open wound that ended up saving Martinelli's life.
Now, coach Haggerty needs our help. According to his GoFundMe page, "he is in bankruptcy. The bank is still trying to take his house. This winter, he took in a family who were living in their car. He gave up his memory foam bed to sleep on his old, lumpy couch, for the parents to sleep in his room. He had broken ribs at the time. To those of you who know him, this is no surprise."
Any help you can provide Coach Haggerty, would be greatly appreciated. He is certainly a man who deserves the help of others. You can donate here.
