ESPN announced the five finalists for the Best NFL Player at the ESPY Awards and Eagles runningback LeSean McCoy is one of the finalists. Along with McCoy are Chiefs runningback Jamaal Charles, Panthers linebacker Luke Kuechly, Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning and Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson.
You have to think Peyton Manning is the front-runner for the award. Although he probably won't win the award, McCoy better beat out Charles for the award considering McCoy won the NFL Ground Player of the Year for 2013.
McCoy, 25, rushed 101 times for 598 yards (5.9 yards per carry) and four touchdowns in the month of December. He also caught 18 passes for 140 yards and a touchdown. He finished the year with a career-high 314 carries for a league-leading 1,607 yards (5.1 yards per carry) and nine touchdowns.
