The Sixers defense was not up to par in the first half and suffered break downs at the end of each quarter. Down by 13 after the first quarter, the Sixers would cut into the Magic lead. The Sixers cut the Magic lead to 6 points and 45-39 nearing the end of the second quarter until two three pointers and two buckets later the Magic ended the quarter on a 10-0 run and brought a 16 point halftime lead to the locker room.
The Sixers came out firing in the third quarter and, once again, cut into the Magic lead. The 16 point halftime lead shrunk to four points before the Magic answered with four unanswered of their own and eventually grew the lead up to 14 before the Sixers brought it back down to nine entering the fourth. The Sixers couldn’t solve the Magic defense in the fourth quarter and that is where the game ultimately slipped away. The Magic outscored the Sixers 24-17 in the fourth to cruise to a 16 point victory.
Lou Williams lead all Sixers with 21 points. Former Chester and Saint Joseph’s University stand out Jameer Nelson tied a career high with 14 assists and he poured in 12 points to go along with 4 rebounds.
The Sixers are back at it on Friday at 8:00 pm (note the later start time) at the Wells Fargo Center at the Wells Fargo Center.
