The Flyers announced forwards Matt Read and Brayden Schenn will be playing for Team Canada at the 2014 World Championships in Minsk, Belarus. The tournament is slated to begin on May 9th and go through May 25th. This is the second consecutive year Read will represent Canada at the World Championships and it is Schenn's first World Championships appearance.
Read, 27, just completed his third season with the Flyers scoring 22 goals and added 18 assists for 40 points. He set a career-high with four shorthanded goals. Schenn, 22, had his best season to date setting career highs in goals (20), assists (21) and points (41).
The Flyers had four members on the 2013 World Championship team: Read, Claude Giroux, Wayne Simmonds and Luke Schenn. Philadelphia had 10 representatives overall in 2013 with defenseman Erik Gutafsson taking home the gold medal with Team Sweden.
