The Philadelphia Inquirer's Sam Carchidi reports that the Flyers will sit Erik Gustafsson Tuesday against the Anaheim Ducks in favor for defenseman Andrej Meszaros.
Gustafsson, 24, reportedly upset Craig Berube with his play on Saturday which included a late icing. However, it should be noted that Gustafsson did record an assists and was plus-1 against the Islanders in the same game. He has played in five straight games registering one goal and two assists with 11 shots on goal.
Meszaros, who turned 28 two weeks ago, has been a healthy scratch for the last five games and has not played since October 11th. Prior to the hiatus, Meszaros played in five games recording no goals or assists with 10 shots on goal.
The Ducks are known to be in the market for defensemen which makes you wonder whether the Flyers are playing Meszaros tonight to show the Ducks he can play as some sort of showcase for a trade.
Either way, puck drop is at 7:00 pm at the Wells Fargo Center.
