Reid, in his press conference, however, said that he is to blame. "I am the head coach of the football team, and so I take full responsibility for how we played, and we're all going to work hard and get better, including myself," Reid said. Reid also acts as the VP of Football Operation for the Eagles, and his team that he put together, players and coaches, is failing to live up to all the hype that was set up in the offseason.
Reid also said in his press conference that the rumors of him speaking with Eric Mangini to bring him in as a defensive consultant was a rumor and no such thing has happened. The defense obviously needs some work, however, Reid sees no problems with the defense and keeps referring to the second half in Sunday's loss vs. the Bills. He says they will continue to improve, and given the state of things now, they can only get better - right?
The Eagles offense is a big play offense, and as they showed in the second half against the Bills, they can put up points in a hurry. However, the biggest probles are the turnovers. That is something that drastically needs to change, as their turnover differential is -10 and tied for last in the NFL. The defense has not played well and really cannot stop anything. If the defense can improve at all and start making a few key stops a game, the offense may be able to have more big plays. I believe all this team needs is a bit on confidence to get theirswagger back.
Given all of the Eagles struggles, they are only 0-1 in the NFC East. They play in D.C. against the Redskins this Sunday, and a win would put them back into contention in the division early in the season.
What are your thoughts on the Eagles early in the season? Can they turn it around?
