Phillies right-hander Miguel Alfredo Gonzalez is slated to begin a rehab assignment tonight in Clearwater for the Threshers. It marks his first professional start in the Phillies organization. Gonzalez has been dealing with a shoulder injury since early March and has been on a light throwing routine after being shutdown.
Gonzalez, 27, signed a three-year, $12 million deal in August with the Phillies. He allowed five runs on six hits in 2.2 innings of work in the spring. His last appearance in any game was on March 7th against the Baltimore Orioles in Sarasota, Florida.
