Phillies third baseman Cody Asche had a rough go of it on Tuesday night against the Los Angeles Angels committing three errors including two in the sixth inning when the Angels scored all four runs en route to their 4-3 victory over the Phillies. A performance like that could rattle a young player like Asche who has played in 87 career Major League games to date.
Luckily for Asche, the Phillies have had their share of successful third basemen over the years and none more so than Hall of Famer Mike Schmidt. Following the game, Schmidt reached out to Asche to offer words of encouragement
As for Schmidt and Asche being mentioned in the same sentence, it is not the first time these two Phillies third basemen have been compared.
