Oklahoma State CB Justin Gilbert
Gilbert's strong ball skills play into another area of his game which is how dangerous he is with the ball in his hands. He ran the fastest 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine at 4.37 seconds which shows he has incredible straight-line speed. Gilbert is an asset in the return game as he returned six kickoffs for touchdowns while at Oklahoma State.
While Gilbert is a tremendous asset in the passing game, he is not the most physical cornerback. Often times he allows too much separation between himself and the receiver. Gilbert is not the best tackler in the open field which makes him a wild card in the running game.
Fit With The Eagles:
Gilbert has the potential to be an elite cornerback in the NFL as ball hawks with his instincts find a spot somewhere in the league. While he is still young, he has some similarities with Asante Samuel and Cary Williams - two polarizing players while playing in Philadelphia.
He did not visit or interview with the Eagles.
If Gilbert is on the board when the Eagles select at 22, it is unlikely the Eagles will select him given the lack of interest they have shown over the course of the evaluation process.
