The Philadelphia Daily News' Ryan Lawrence is reporting that Ryan Howard has successful surgery on his meniscus this morning performed by Phillies Director of Medical Services, Dr. Michael Ciccotti, at the Rothman Institute.
The recovery time is expected to be six to eight weeks. Catcher Erik Kratz had the same surgery a month ago and is already back rehabbing with Triple-A Lehigh Valley.
In 80 games this season, Howard is hitting .266/.319/.465 with 11 home runs and 43 RBI. He wasn't healthy last year playing in only 71 games after rupturing his Achilles tendon in October 2011. We though was healthy for part of this year but then he revealed that he was playing in pain for much of the season.
