This has led Forbes to name Utley the No. 1 Best-Paid Bench Warmer in all of sports. he took the top spot by collecting $61 million since 2010 despite only playing in 350 of the team's 565 games.
It is conceivable to name Utley No. 1 for 2013 but I disagree with the assessment. In fact, I don't even think Utley is the No. 1 Best-Paid Bench Warmer in the city of Philadelphia. I have no clue how Andrew Bynum was overlooked for this award. He made $16.5 million and never appeared in a game for the 76ers - not even in the preseason (although he is, conveniently, totally healthy now because he is looking for a contract)! If that doesn't define best-paid bench warmer, I don't know what does. At least, Utley played eventually!
Yes, I'm still unhappy Bynum never suited up for the Sixers.
