In a scoreless game and Nolan Arenado on first base in the bottom of the third inning, Rockies second baseman Daniel LeMahieu hit a single into the left-centerfield gap. Arenado, running hard on the pitch, rounded second and headed for third. Phillies leftfielder Domonic Brown came up and threw the ball to second base.
With the throw going to second base, Arenado rounded third and headed for home. Chase Utley threw the ball to Carlos Ruiz who placed the tag on Arenado where home plate umpire Tim Welke call him out. Colorado challenged and, on video review, it is clear that Ruiz placed the tag down before Arenado touched the plate.
Despite the video evidence saying otherwise, the call on the field was overturned and the Rockies were given the first run of the game.
