Harvey, 24, wasn't too sharp on Saturday against the Tigers as he allowed two runs on 13 hits over 6.2 innings to get his fifth loss of the season. The NL All-Star starter has not been as productive for the Mets lately as he was the first half of the year. The Mets have won just one of his last six starts.
Harvey was slated to start the series finale for the Mets against the Phillies on Thursday. In five career starts against the Phillies, Harvey is 4-0 with a 1.08 ERA and a 0.69 WHIP. In 19 starts at Citi Field, the big right-hander is 4-5 with a 1.89 ERA and a 0.90 WHIP. The Phillies would've been in trouble.
As much as I don't like the Mets, this news was not well received. Harvey was one of the few bright spots for the organization in the last few years and, admit it, the Phillies-Mets rivalry is way more enjoyable when both teams are contenders. Hopefully Harvey bounces back.
