The Philadelphia Inquirer's Matt Gelb reports the 35-year-old reliever had surgery recently to repair a sports hernia. Adams could return to throwing soon but there is no timetable for his return. Adams is scheduled to make $7 million next season with a $6 million club option for 2015.
In 28 games last season for the Phillies, Adams was 1-4 with a 3.96 ERA and a 1.36 WHIP. It is his first season in Philadelphia after signing a two year, $12 million deal in December 2012.
