The Phillies officially announced on Monday Cliff Lee will be the team's Opening Day starter on March 31st against the Texas Rangers. It is Lee's second-career Opening Day start as his first in Philadelphia.
Lee, 35, went 14-8 in 222.2 innings of work with a 2.87 ERA and a 1.01 WHIP in 31 starts last season for the Phillies earning a trip to the All Star Game in New York and finishing sixth in the NL Cy Young voting. In four seasons with the Phillies, Lee is 44-29 with a 2.86 ERA and a 1.06 WHIP. He has topped 207 strikeouts in each of the last three seasons with the Phillies and the only three times in his career.
