Within minutes of the final out of the Rockies' 12-1 shellacking of the Phillies on Friday night, the Phillies optioned Friday night's starter Jonathan Pettibone to Triple-A Lehigh Valley and have recalled reliever Shawn Camp according to Matt Gelb of The Philadelphia Inquirer.
Pettibone, 23, got beat up on Friday night allowing eight runs on nine hits with two walks and a strikeout in four innings of work. His earned run average at Coors Field entering the night was 18.00 and after his four inning stint Friday it remained at 18.00.
What makes this difficult is Pettibone pitched well in his season debut on Saturday allowing two runs (one earned) on eight hits over five innings against the Marlins.
Camp, 38, is 0-1 with a 3.00 ERA and a 2.00 WHIP in five games out of the bullpen for the Iron Pigs this season. He has allowed two runs on nine hits with three walks and four strikeouts in six innings pitched.
