The Phillies have placed All-Star left fielder Domonic Brown on the seven-day concussion disabled list. Brown, 25, underwent a battery of tests Wednesday and got the results back today that he has a concussion. The All-Star injured himself diving for a ball in Tuesday's 4-1 loss to the Cardinals. It comes at a bad time as the Phillies are in desperate need of wins leading up to next Wednesday's non-waiver trade deadline.
Brown is hitting .271/.316/.531 with a team leading 24 home runs and 69 RBIs in 99 games with the Phillies this season. He has played well in left field and earned his first All-Star game nod.
To replace Brown, the Phillies called up outfielder Steve Susdorf. Susdorf, 27, was hitting .335/.419/.428 with one home run and 25 RBI for Triple-A Lehigh Valley this season.
