The 20 year old third baseman was seen as a raw talent but had an extremely high ceiling. Things appear to be clicking for Franco who went deep again last night for Single-A Clearwater. Baseball America is reporting that the Phillies have promoted the slugging third baseman to Double-A Reading.
Franco, who turns 21 at the end of August, is hitting .299/.349/.576 with a Florida State League leading 16 home runs and 52 RBI. He also leads the FSL with 23 doubles. Over his last 10 games for Clearwater, Franco is hitting .395/.730/1.125 with five home runs and 10 RBI. One of the telling stats about Franco's ability to come through when needed his his .331/.575/.907 slash line with runners on base. (Maybe he will spend some time with Chase Utley in Reading to pick his brain).
