Adams was reportedly told that he has three tears in his throwing shoulder. ElAttrache is recommending surgery while team physician Michael Ciccotti is not recommending surgery. Adams has to make a decision but he said before last night's 6-2 victory over the Padres that is "highly likely" that his season is over. Surgery will determine whether he is ready for 2014 Spring Training.
In 28 games this season for the Phillies, Adams is 1-4 with a 3.96 ERA and a 1.36 WHIP. This is his first season in Philadelphia after signing a two year, $12 million deal in December.
He was supposed to have the eighth inning on lock-down but he has been shaky at best. Maybe he didn't fully recover from his thoracic outlet syndrome? I don't know but what I do know is this is definitely not the same guy who was lights out in 2011.
