With the Phillies' recent struggles, it is not a surprise they are gearing up for a potential busy trade deadline but they are probably going to be in the unfamiliar role of "sellers" come July. The Boston Globe's Nick Cafardo reports the Phillies have had scouts at six of the last seven Boston Red Sox series.
There is no word on who exactly the Phillies are scouting but the Red Sox, who are 28-34, are an interesting choice to scout. Many believe the Phillies should be looking to unload their big contracts for a little return to turnover their roster and free up money similar to what the Red Sox did in August 2012.
Do the Red Sox want to be on the receiving end of that deal the way the Dodgers were on the receiving end of their deal in 2012? Who knows.
