The Phillies have reportedly signed Kyle Kendrick to a one-year, $7.675 million deal avoiding arbitration, something the club has avoided seemingly every year for the last decade. Kendrick was the Phillies No. 3 starter last season and appears to have an inside track to the No. 3/4 spot.
Kendrick, 29, was 10-13 with a 4.70 ERA and a 1.40 WHIP in 30 starts for the Phillies last season. He went through a stretch where he was the team's most consistent starter. In seven seasons with the Phillies, Kendrick is 64-55 with a 4.38 ERA and a 1.37 WHIP in 194 games (153 starts).
He made $4.5 million last season.
