The Phillies announced that Kendrick has been scratched from his scheduled start on Wednesday against the Marlins due to shoulder soreness. He had a MRI that revealed inflammation is his pitching shoulder. Zach Miner will start in his place.
Maybe this explains the drop-off in Kendrick's play of late. Overall this season he is 10-12 with a 4.70 ERA and a 1.40 WHIP which isn't bad but he started the season so well. In 19 first half starts, Kendrick was 8-6 with a 3.68 ERA and a 1.26 WHIP in 124.2 innings pitched but the second half has been unkind to Kendrick as he is 2-7 with a 6.91 ERA and a 1.69 WHIP in only 57.1 innings of work.
Kendrick allowed the same number of runs (52) in the first half of the year as he has in the second half of the year but he has thrown 67.1 fewer innings in the second half.
He is arbitration-eligible at the end of the season.
