The Phillies leftfielder returned to action Monday night in Lakewood as he got the start in left field for the Single-A Blue Claws. Brown was strong in his start going 3-for-5 with a home run, two RBIs, two runs scored, and no strikeouts.
Brown, 25, has been a crucial piece in the Phillies lineup this season. The All-Star leftfielder is batting .271/.316/.531 with a team leading 24 home runs and a team high 69 RBIs in 99 games this season.
Just how important is Brown? The Phillies have won exactly one game since he got his concussion in July. One. That's it. He was a big reason why the Phillies hung in the race in the first part of the season. Turns out he might be a big reason why they have fallen 17 games behind the Braves in the NL East.
