Reported earlier, the NHL Board of Governors will meet on Wednesday to ratify the agreement. The players will take a little bit longer to ratify the CBA. The Canadian Press’ Chris Johnston is reporting that that the players will vote all the way until Saturday, January 12th. Saturday was originally believed to be the day that teams opened training camp. The players’ delayed voting will push everything back a day. Johnston tweets,
“With player vote through Sat, training camps likely won't open before Sun. Bill Daly says they can still start Jan. 19. ‘Barely, but yes.’”
So now it appears that camps won’t open until January 13th but, if everything goes smoothly, the league still plans to open the season on January 19th. Hopefully they still plan a Claude Giroux v. Sidney Crosby matinee to kick off an exciting shortened year.
