TSN NHL insider Darren Dreger was on the NHL Network's NHL Tonight on Tuesday night discussing the trade deadline and potential names who could be on the move. Dreger mentioned the Boston Bruins may have interest in adding Flyers defenseman Andrej Meszaros as the deadline approaches.
You may remember that this is not the first time the Bruins have been connected to Meszaros. Back in January it was reported Boston could be looking at Meszaros to replace defenseman Dennis Seidenberg, who tore his ACL and MCL just before the New Year.
Meszaros, 28, is an attractive piece at the deadline. Despite the $4 million cap hit he holds, he is just a rental as he is slated to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season. He has proven to be healthy this season, especially of late, which helps calm the fears of other general managers who might be skeptical of the blue-liner's ability to remain healthy for the home stretch of the season.
Meszaros has four goals and 12 assists in 35 games this season despite the fact he was a healthy scratch for a large part of the "2013" portion of the 2013-14 season. He got white-hot in January when he scored three goals and six assists in a seven-game span.
