The Boston Globe's Nick Cafardo reports the Phillies have been "discouraged" by what they have heard from other teams regarding ace Cole Hamels. Cafardo reports the Phillies would move Hamels if they can get three top prospects from a team without absorbing any of Hamels' contract. The report also states Hamels "wouldn't mind" that option.
Hamels, 30, is 4-5 with a 2.83 ERA and a 1.17 WHIP in 17 starts this season. Overall, the opposition is batting .231/.299/.359 with eight home runs and 37 extra-base hits against Hamels. He is 1-5 with a 4.38 ERA in six starts this season in which the Phillies have given him two or fewer runs of run support. In the 11 other starts in which they have scored three or more runs for Hamels, he is 3-0 with a 2.12 ERA.
