CSN Philly's Derek Gunn reports the Eagles are listening to offers for Pro Bowl wide receiver DeSean Jackson and two teams - the 49ers and Patriots - have both called about acquiring Jackson. The team is hoping to get at least a third round pick for the 27-year-old's services.
Jackson, 27, went to the Pro Bowl in 2013 for the first time since 2010 and the third time in his six seasons in the league. The former-second round pick had a career year setting career-highs in receptions (82), yards (1,332), and first downs (60) while tying a career-high in touchdowns (9) and games played (16).
We debated why the Eagles should and should not trade DeSean Jackson last week based on a few reports. Now the story has taken on a life of it's own.
I don't think there is any untouchable player on this team except maybe Shady McCoy so listening to offers is not necessarily a bad thing but the Eagles need to get value for Jackson. With all of that being said, I still stand by the "I have no idea why you would trade Jackson now" claim I made last week.
