The NFL's Ian Rapoport reports that the Eagles have traded nose tackle Isaac Sopoaga and a sixth-round pick to the New England Patriots for a fifth-round pick in the 2014 draft.
Sopoaga, 32, signed a three-year, $12 million deal with the Eagles in March after spending his first eight seasons in the NFL with the San Francisco 49ers. In eight games with the Eagles this season, he has 10 tackles (seven solo) and one stuff.
He was an older player who wasn't overly productive and was taking time away from Bennie Logan who has surprised a lot of people. This is a solid move for the Eagles plus they've historically have had success in the fifth round (i.e. Trent Cole and Brent Celek).
