Sportsnet's Josh Rimer is reporting that the Flyers have been in talks with the Sabres regarding goaltender Ryan Miller. Rimer adds that the "Flyers are def. [sic] up to something with buyout of Bryz."
Miller, who turns 33 in July, had a rough year last season going 17-17-5 in 39 starts with a 2.81 GAA and a .915 SV%. He is in the final year of a five-year, $31.25 million deal that carries a cap hit of $6.25 million.
Could you imagine Ryan Miller on the Flyers? Man, if this was July 2009, this would be awesome! But it's not and I have my reservations about it. Mainly - who are the Flyers going to score all their goals on when they play Buffalo? Enroth? That hasn't worked well in the past.
I should add that I don't understand all of a sudden coming up this cap space then throwing it all away for Miller. But, if you can explain it, I'd love to hear it.
