Well catch your breath because he we go again, this time with a familiar name who has been linked to the Flyers in trade rumors for over a year at this point. CSN Philly is reporting that the Flyers and Ducks are engaging in talks centering on South Jersey native Bobby Ryan coming to Philadelphia in return for defenseman Braydon Coburn and the 11th overall pick in the June 30th entry draft.
Coburn, 28, was acquired from the then-Atlanta Thrashers during the 2006-07 season. He is currently the longest tenured Flyer. He score one goal and had four assists in 33 games last year as he dealt with a shoulder injury which kept him sidelined. Coburn just finished the first year of a four-year, $18 million deal.
Ryan, 26, is coming off of a 11 goal, 19 assist year in which he played 46 games. The lockout-shortened season snapped a streak of four consecutive seasons in which Ryan scored 31 or more goals. He is signed through 2014-15 with an annual cap hit of $5.1 million.
This rumor does not seem to be going away which makes me think there might be something to it. We shall see in the coming days/weeks.
