Winnipeg Free Press' Tim Campbell reports (h/t Buzz on Broad) the Flyers have "next to no interest" in Jets forward Evander Kane. Reports surfaced two weeks ago that the Jets were shopping Kane and the only destination mentioned by Sportsnet was Philadelphia.
Kane has been tied to the Flyers in the past as Rimer reported around the NHL trade deadline the Jets and Flyers were talking about a deal that would've sent Kane to Philadelphia. Kane has been somewhat of a lightning rod for criticism as he sometimes takes plays and even games off. He was a healthy scratch towards the end of the season before returning to the lineup.
While that might scare some away from Kane, a key to remember is he is only 22 years old and he doesn't turn 23 until August. He scored 19 goals and added 22 assists for 41 points in 63 games last season for Winnipeg. The 2009 fourth overall pick is a former 30-goal scorer who has shown flashes of brilliance with his best season coming in 2011-12 when he scored 30 goals and added 27 assists for 57 points in 74 games. He signed a six-year, $31.5 million contract prior to the 2012-13 season that carries a cap hit of $5.25 million.
He would look awfully good on the Flyers top line with Claude Giroux and Jakub Voracek but there doesn't appear to be much traction there.
