Sportsnet's Chris Johnston reports the Flyers have traded defenseman Braydon Coburn to the Tampa Bay Lightning in exchange for a first-round pick, a third-round pick and defenseman Radko Gudas.
Gudas, 24, played in 31 games for the Lightning this season scoring two goals and adding three assists before going down with a lower-body injury in late December. He has been out indefinitely since the injury. The 6'0", 204 lbs. defenseman scored three goals and added 19 assists for 22 points in 73 games for the Lightning last season. He carries a $991,667 cap hit through 2015-16 before becoming a restricted free agent.
Coburn, who turned 30 on Friday, has one goal and eight assists in 39 games for the Flyers this season. The 6'5", 220 lbs. defenseman has been dealing with lower-body injuries this season after playing all 82 games last season. In nine seasons in Philadelphia, Coburn scored 37 goals and dished out 124 assists for 161 points in 576 games. He was acquired on February 24th, 2007 in a deal with the then-Atlanta Thrashers that sent Alexei Zhitnik to Atlanta. Coburn is currently signed through 2015-16 carrying a cap hit of $4.5 million.
