Michael Vick's health is still something that is going to be monitored over the course of the week. Nick Foles has a concussion and must follow the league's mandatory concussion protocol before he can return to the field.
That leaves rookie Matt Barkley.
The Philadelphia Inquirer's Zach Berman reports that Barkley could get the start for the Eagles on Sunday if Foles is not cleared and Vick has not recovered from his hamstring injury.
Barkley had one of the toughest NFL debuts you're ever going to see. In one quarter of play, he was 11-for-20 for 129 yards and three interceptions. He was picked off a fourth time but that was called back due to a Cowboys offsides penalty. It was tough because everybody and their mother knew the Eagles needed to throw the ball so Barkley was working uphill on that one.
It still doesn't excuse the failure to locate the linebacker in coverage.
Sunday could be a tough one for the Eagles as the previously winless Giants topped the Vikings on Monday night and will enter Philadelphia with a bit of momentum potentially facing a rookie quarterback.
I still see Vick coming back and starting for the Eagles. It's hard to imagine that he stays on the sidelines for another week.
