Everyone, that is, except Nerlens Noel.
The Sixers center has yet to play a game this season after tearing his ACL while still playing for the University of Kentucky on February 12th, 2013. On Sunday, Noel cryptically tweeted out "4-4-14" which just so happens to be the night the Sixers play the Boston Celtics in Noel's hometown of Boston.
Now, The Philadelphia Inquirer's Keith Pompey reports that sources have confirmed the reason for Noel's tweet was his desire to make his NBA debut in his hometown before the end of the 2013-14 season. Pompey notes it is Noel's desire to play that day but he had not disclosed that to the team prior to the tweet.
Head coach Brett Brown and the rest of the 76ers organization have been cautiously optimistic about Noel's recovery from his serious knee injury but they have been rather consistent this season saying they did not believe he would play in 2013-14. I am in the camp that firmly agrees that, at this point, there is nothing to gain by rushing Noel onto the court at the end of the season and he should wait until October to showcase what he brings to the table.
